Note: This section provides examples of local regulations addressing outdoor lighting. The objective is to illustrate the diversity of approaches taken by various jurisdictions. Some of the ordinances do a better job at protecting night skies and reducing light pollution than others and their inclusion on this page is not an endorsement. A content analysis of local lighting ordinances is forthcoming and this list will be supplemented as data collection continues.
